This year I decided to revisit Yosemite Nat Park, the timing could not have been better. The weather was perfect and the number of visitors was relatively low. This gave me much more freedom while photographing the park. I will say that after 10am or so the traffic was dramatically increased, however my work was winding down as the traffic was increasing, so I was not too affected by the increase. The temp hovered around 70 all day, and it was great. We were going to stay in the park until I saw a video showing a bear destroying a car to get at food that was left in the car. I was not going to risk my truck to an over zealous bear. A great advantage to my early arrival this year was that the rivers and waterfalls were all flowing heavily. This made for more dramatic images, my previous trips were later into the summer and the water had all but stopped.
The best part of this trip was my family was able to join me and we spent lots of time together. It was fun just joking and laughing together. When we were headed over to photograph the ghost town of Bodie (which was closed) and along the way saw a frozen lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. So I decided to hop out and taOKke a panorama of the area, the problem was the blizzard condition outside. So I decide to make my way to snap a photo and wound up about waist high in a snow bank with my Vans sneakers, shorts and t-shirt on (remember the 70 degree weather in Yosemite?). So another great laugh was to be had, this time at my expense. The image didn’t look near as cool as the image in my head did, but the experience was still a good one.
Yosemite National Park is awesome in person, you need to see this place for yourself!
